Pitti Filati is dedicated to knitting yarns. Spinning mills present new yarns, colours and textures here seasons ahead, long before they reach the shops. This fair is not about buying finished goods, it is about launching your own line. We help you through the whole process: choosing the yarn, finding a knitwear manufacturer, developing samples and placing the order.
Pitti Filati dates
Pitti Filati 100 runs 20-22 January 2027, and edition 101 is scheduled for 23-25 June 2027. Venue: Fortezza da Basso, Florence. The fair is held twice a year; dates are taken from the Pitti Immagine website.
Who can attend
The fair is for professionals: knitwear manufacturers, designers, brands and buyers. Register online on the Pitti Immagine website before the fair. Spinners are more willing to work with visitors who have a clear plan: volume, product type, season. We help you prepare that brief.
Where to stay and reaching the factories
Central Florence near the Fortezza da Basso is the most convenient base. Knitwear and spinning mills are in the Prato area and neighbouring towns, so plan a car for the factory day: we will map the route and go with you.

Together we define the task: product types, composition, colour range, target volume and price.
Spinner meetings
We pick booths that fit your brief, book meetings, interpret and confirm minimum quantities.
Yarn samples
We collect shade cards and skeins so you can compare options after the fair.

We find a manufacturer to knit your garments in the chosen yarn under your label.
Sample development
We agree styles, sizes and gauge, receive the samples and make corrections.

We launch the run, check quality during production and before shipment, and dispatch the order.

The fair: meetings with spinning mills based on your brief, collecting shade cards.

Second day at the fair and a review of yarn samples: what fits on price and minimum quantity.

Knitwear manufacturers around Prato: machinery, garment samples, lead times and price.
When to start
Prepare your brief 1-2 months before the fair: product type, season, preferred composition and target volume. If you need to hit a specific selling season, remember that knitwear sampling and production take several months.
Frequently asked questions
Can I buy yarn in small quantities?
It depends on the spinner and on whether you take yarn from a stock programme or order your own colour. We confirm minimum quantities at the meeting.
Do I need my own knitwear factory?
No. We find a manufacturer that knits the garments in the chosen yarn under your label, and we manage the order through to shipment.
Will the garments carry a Made in Italy label?
Only if they are actually made in Italy. We work with Italian manufacturers and never put that label on goods made in another country.
How much does the agent cost?
A commission on the order value: 10% up to €2,000, 9% above €2,000 and 7% above €5,000. Minimum order €500.
