Shipping from Italy to Saudi Arabia
We prepare goods and paperwork for SASO requirements and ship orders from Prato and Florence to the Kingdom.
In Saudi Arabia, textiles and clothing fall under the SASO technical regulation for textile products. Conformity is shown through the SABER platform: the importer obtains a Product Certificate of Conformity (PCoC) and a Shipment Certificate of Conformity (SCoC) for each consignment. Without them, cargo is as a rule not released. Import VAT of 15% is charged on the customs value plus duty. The duty itself depends on the HS code: for many clothing items it starts at 5% and can be higher. Check exact rates in the ZATCA tariff or with your broker.
What the preparation covers
SABER data
We collect compositions, descriptions, product and label photos and any available test reports from the factories for your certification body.
Labels
We agree labels showing composition, country of origin and care instructions with the factory. Arabic-language requirements are confirmed with the certification body.
Certificate of origin
Issued through the Italian Chamber of Commerce if your importer or broker asks for it.
Air freight
Air cargo to Riyadh, Jeddah or Dammam for urgent orders.
Sea freight
Full container or LCL from Italian ports to Jeddah or Dammam for large volumes.
Consolidation
We combine orders from several factories into one consignment covered by a single SCoC.
Why it's smoother with us
Documents before production
We ask about SABER requirements at the start, not when the goods are already packed.
Factory cross-check
We check that the compositions in the documents match what is printed on the garments.
Honest invoicing
Real value and real country of origin, with no schemes that create risk at customs.
Gulf experience
We work with clients in the UAE and Saudi Arabia and know the questions importers ask.
FAQ
Does clothing need SABER?
As a rule, yes: the SASO textile regulation covers clothing, home textiles and many fabric products. The certification type depends on the product, and requirements for children's wear and underwear are usually stricter.
Who obtains SABER certificates?
The importer registers products on the platform and works with an accredited certification body. We supply the factory data and documents this requires.
What taxes are due on import?
15% VAT and duty according to the HS code. VAT is calculated on the customs value plus duty. Check the duty rate for your item in the ZATCA tariff or with your broker.
How long does shipping take?
Air is usually fastest; sea is slower but cheaper for large volumes. The carrier quotes a transit time for each specific lot, and it's worth allowing time for certification from the start.
